The Community Prevention Initiative (CPI) is the prevention division of Curious Cats Rescue Incorporated.
CPI was created to address one of the most pressing issues facing our community: feline overpopulation and preventable disease transmission.
Rather than responding only after kittens are born or cats become sick, CPI focuses on proactive intervention — stopping the cycle before it begins.
Preventing Suffering Before It Starts
One unspayed female cat can produce multiple litters per year, but Prevention is about more than stopping litters — it is about protecting health, reducing suffering, and strengthening the entire community.
While sterilization reduces overpopulation, testing and vaccination prevent the spread of infectious disease among cats in households, neighborhoods, and rescue systems.

How CPI Works
Apply
Submit application and verify eligibility.
Funding is limited and subject to quarterly caps.Complete Required Agreement
If approved, applicants submit a required deposit to schedule the appointment.
The deposit is applied toward the cost of required vaccinations and testing performed by the veterinary clinic on the day of surgery.
CPI Pays
We pay the clinic directly for spay/neuter surgery, rabies, and all other services performed

Participants do not need to obtain vaccines separately.
All required services are completed by the licensed veterinarian performing the surgery.
Financial Stewardship
CPI operates under a restricted Community Prevention Initiative fund with direct, board-approved quarterly payments to licensed veterinary clinics. We conduct quarterly internal financial reviews to ensure accuracy, accountability, and liability.
Program Disclaimer
The Community Prevention Initiative (CPI) is a financial assistance program operated by Curious Cats Rescue Incorporated.
CPI subsidizes the cost of approved spay surgery and rabies vaccination. Approved applicants are required to submit a deposit to secure their appointment. This deposit is applied toward required diagnostic testing, additional vaccinations, and microchipping (if needed), which the participating veterinary clinic performs at the time of surgery.
Curious Cats Rescue Incorporated does not provide veterinary or medical services. All examinations, testing, vaccinations, surgical procedures, and medical decisions are performed solely by licensed veterinary professionals.
CPI funds are paid directly to participating veterinary clinics. No funds are distributed directly to applicants.
Participation in CPI does not guarantee medical eligibility for surgery. Final determination regarding a cat’s health and suitability for treatment rests exclusively with the attending veterinarian.
Funding is limited and subject to board-approved program caps and availability.
